Dublin to Cork Removals

Professional removals between Dublin and Cork — family-run since 1982.

Moving from Dublin to Cork is one of our most-requested long-distance routes. J Hanway Removals & Storage has been moving Dublin families south to Cork for over forty years — tech workers relocating to the Silicon Harbour corridor, families moving for the quality of life, retirees heading to West Cork. One Dublin crew, one truck, door-to-door, no handovers.

The Dublin to Cork Route

The direct route runs M50 → M7 → M8, roughly 258 km from our Cloghran base to Cork city centre. Travel time is around 2 hours 45 minutes with an empty truck; loaded and making the scheduled delivery window, we allow 3 to 3.5 hours. The motorway is tolled at three points (M50 eToll, M7 Portlaoise, M8 Fermoy, M8 Rathcormac) — all included in our quote, never a surprise on the invoice.

For West Cork destinations (Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Bantry, Schull), add another 60–90 minutes from Cork city. We plan these as extended same-day jobs or split them over two days depending on the load size and access at the destination.

What a Dublin-to-Cork Move Looks Like

Early load from Dublin. We arrive at your Dublin home between 7 and 8 am, complete a final walkthrough, and begin loading. For a typical three-bedroom house with full packing already done, loading takes 2–3 hours.

Single-run transport. The same crew that loads your belongings drives them to Cork. No transfers, no overnight warehouse stops, no lost items. Your items stay in the same truck from front door to front door.

Afternoon unload in Cork. We aim to be unloading in Cork between 1 and 3 pm, which gives us the full afternoon to place furniture, reassemble beds and wardrobes, and walk through the destination property with you. For most three- and four-bedroom moves, we finish before 6 pm the same day.

Why Choose J Hanway for Dublin-Cork Moves

We do this route weekly. Dublin-Cork is one of our highest-frequency domestic routes. Our drivers know the M7/M8 inside out, including the quieter access roads for Cork city deliveries.

No two-day inflation. Most Dublin-to-Cork house moves genuinely fit in a single day. Some movers pad the quote with an overnight to justify higher pricing — we don’t. If your move legitimately needs two days, we’ll tell you why upfront.

Family-run since 1982. Three generations of Hanways. The person quoting your job is the person whose name is over the door.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a Dublin to Cork move take? Most three- and four-bedroom moves complete in a single day — load in the morning, drive, unload and place furniture in the afternoon. Very large moves (5+ bedrooms, significant pack-up, or difficult access) may need two days.

Do you service West Cork destinations? Yes. Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Bantry, Schull and the wider West Cork peninsula are all routes we cover regularly. Allow an extra 1.5–2 hours of drive time from Cork city.

Can you do packing the day before? Yes — full packing can be done the day before the move day if you’d prefer a less hectic moving morning. We’ll quote this as a separate line item.

Are tolls included? Yes. M50, M7 and M8 tolls are built into our quote — no surprise charges on the invoice.

Do you offer storage at the Cork end? We don’t run a Cork-based warehouse. Storage is available at our Dublin Cloghran facility — useful if your Cork completion date is delayed and you need a buffer.
