Waste Collection Permit Ireland: Ask Before Anyone Clears Your House
Before anyone clears a house, ask for their waste collection permit number. Ours is NWCPO-25-13139-01, valid in all 26 counties of Ireland.
Before you hire anyone to clear a house in Ireland, ask for their waste collection permit number. Ours is NWCPO-25-13139-01, and it is valid for collection in all 26 counties of the Republic of Ireland. If a firm can’t give you a number, don’t hand them your waste.
We have been a family-run business since 1982, and house clearance is one of the services we offer across Dublin. In our experience, the permit question tells you more than any quote or website can.
Why the permit number comes first
A house clearance looks like lifting and loading. But the part that matters most starts when the van pulls away. Everything that leaves the house has to end up somewhere, and you want to know it ends up in the right place.
That is what a waste collection permit is for. It is a number you can write down, keep with your paperwork and pass to a solicitor or family member who asks. A smart van and a low price tell you nothing about where your waste goes. A permit number does.
So ask early, before anyone gives you a price. A firm that clears houses properly will give you its number straight away. If the answer is vague, or the subject gets changed, keep looking.
Illegal dumping and house clearance
Illegal dumping is the problem a permit is there to stop, and it is the part of a clearance you never see. That is why we are so clear about it. All the waste we collect on a clearance is disposed of legally. Nothing we take away is dumped.
The permit is one part of the picture. We are licensed, and we carry goods in transit insurance and public liability insurance. We are members of the International Association of Movers (IAM), FEDEMAC (the Federation of European Movers Associations) and the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA). Three generations of the Hanway family have built this business, and our paperwork is there for you to check.
Where the contents go when we clear a house
Not everything in a house is waste. When we carry out a house clearance, usable furniture is donated to Restore, so a good table or wardrobe can go to a new home instead of being thrown out.
Sometimes a family isn’t ready to decide what to keep. Then we can put those items into our own storage. All our storage is our own and on site, for household and commercial goods, short or long term, and you can get to it by booking. The rest of the house can still be cleared while you take your time.
Whatever can’t be donated or kept is disposed of legally under our permit. We clear homes all over Dublin, from Blackrock to Malahide, and our permit covers collection in every county of the Republic.
What a house clearance costs with us
Every clearance is priced on the weight and volume of what’s going. As a guide, with VAT included:
- Studio or 1-bed: €200 to €400
- Typical 3-bed house: €500 to €1,000
Your final price is confirmed in a clear quote, with no hidden fees.
