Our service terms and conditions for removal services

Introduction

These terms and conditions govern your use of J Hanway Removals & Storage services. By booking our services, you agree to these terms.

Booking and Payment

Quotes

  • All quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue
  • Quotes are based on the information provided by the customer
  • Additional items or services may incur extra charges

Payment Terms

  • Payment is due upon completion of the move unless otherwise agreed
  • We accept cash, bank transfer, and major credit/debit cards
  • A deposit may be required for larger moves

Cancellations

  • Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the move: Full refund of deposit
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours before: 50% deposit retention
  • Cancellations on the day of the move: No refund

Insurance and Liability

Our Insurance

  • We carry comprehensive goods in transit insurance
  • Coverage is included in all quotes
  • Maximum liability limits apply (please ask for details)

Customer Responsibilities

  • Customers should ensure adequate home/contents insurance
  • High-value items should be declared in advance
  • We recommend separate insurance for items over €1,500

Exclusions

We are not liable for:

  • Damage to items not professionally packed by us (unless we moved them)
  • Items packed by the customer
  • Acts of God, weather conditions, or circumstances beyond our control
  • Delays caused by traffic or road conditions

Service Delivery

Access

  • Customer must ensure clear access at both properties
  • Parking arrangements are the customer’s responsibility
  • Additional charges may apply for restricted access

Delays

  • We will notify you of any delays as soon as possible
  • We are not liable for consequential losses due to delays
  • Storage charges may apply if completion is delayed

Customer Obligations

You must:

  • Provide accurate information about items to be moved
  • Ensure all items are ready for collection at the agreed time
  • Be present or have a representative present during the move
  • Declare any fragile, valuable, or hazardous items
  • Empty all drawers and cupboards unless otherwise agreed

Prohibited Items

We do not transport:

  • Illegal substances or items
  • Hazardous materials (paints, chemicals, gas bottles)
  • Perishable food items
  • Live plants or animals
  • Cash, jewelry, or important documents (carry these personally)

Complaints

If you have a complaint:

  1. Contact us immediately (see contact information below)
  2. We will investigate and respond within 7 working days
  3. If unresolved, you may escalate to an independent dispute resolution service

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
